Planning a Wedding from Home during a Pandemic

Even though we’re all sheltering in place right now, you don’t have to lose momentum on your wedding planning. Thankfully, there are plenty of tasks you can get done from the comfort of your home no matter what stage of planning you’re in.

Wedding Planning Websites

Everything and everyone is online right now, so it’s the perfect time to build your wedding website. Use your wedding website as a hub for all the information your guests will need to know, including your story, location, travel info, tips for out-of-towners, and more. Some of our favorites are Wedding Wire, The Knot, Zola, and Appy Couple.

Wedding Dress Shopping

Take this time to browse the internet for wedding dress ideas. Start a Pinterest board and save styles that you like so that you have an idea of what you’re looking for (and pricing) when you go into a boutique to try them on. Our friends at Luxe Redux Bridal even have an at-home try-on option right now with Luxe in a Box. You can shop for your perfect dress at home and they’ll ship it to you to try on with no obligation to buy. Get all the details here.

Curate Your Music

Start a Google Doc or Google Sheet to brainstorm music you want to hear on your big day. Do you have your first dance song picked out yet? Now is the perfect time to browse music online. What’s going to get you dancing? What songs do you not want to hear? Start compiling a list to give to your DJ or band so that they’ll be prepared.

Stay On Top of Thank You Notes

Whether you’re newly engaged or just married, don’t forget the thank you notes. If you received engagement gifts, bridal shower gifts, or wedding gifts, start sending out notes of gratitude while you’re at home. You’ll feel better once you can check this task off your list!

Take a Virtual Venue Tour

If you haven’t decided on a wedding venue yet, now is a great time to get a one-on-one virtual tour. Here at The Neidhammer, you can have a video call walk through of the venue with one of our wedding coordinators and get all of your questions and concerns answered as well. Email to set up your virtual tour.

Get Registered

Spending extended amounts of time at home can make you realize what you have, and don’t have. Are there kitchen items you need to add to your arsenal? Need new sheets or a comfy robe to curl up in? Is it time to decorate your home? You can create a registry online or even update the registry you already have.

Have a Call with Your Planner

Now is a great time to touch base with your wedding planner. She/he can provide some moral support and help you navigate any issues that you might be facing right now. Your planner can help strategize any changes that need to be made and ensure your planning can move forward. Hop on a Zoom call or Google Hangout so that you can see each other!

Practice Self-Care

It’s important to take care of yourself! Whether that means taking a virtual yoga class, having an at-home date night, or lighting a candle and giving yourself a new skincare routine, make sure you’re taking care of your mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. We’re all in this together and we’ll all get through it together!
